Raid loot policy

A system of point accrual for attendence and of point spending to receive loots is used for all official raids. This is based around a per-fixture granting of points, with a bid-based system for awarding loots.

Process summary

A simplified summary of the looting system is shown here as an overview. This applies for a typical permanent raider and does not describe rank precedence or other caveats. Those attending raids frequently should ensure they are familiar with the detailed process.

  • Do /joinchannel aenigma_auction as auctioned items are announced and bid upon here.
  • See current points on our points tracking system.
  • Attending the full duration of a raid day earns you 24 points. Backup Raiders not used will 50% of the points granted to a raid if logged in and available to join if required.
  • Minimum starting bid is 20 points for Fabled items.
  • Minimum bid raise is 5 points unless you are bidding all your remaining points.
  • Your bid may not exceed all your remaining points.
  • If you are top bid on an auction you may not pull out of the bidding.
  • At the end of the auction, the highest bidder takes the item and pays the amount they bid.

Process details

New raiders

  • Former members returning to the guild will by default be subject to the same entry conditions as a new person. The guild leadership will determine the appropriateness of an exception on a case-by-case basis.

Attendence

  • Any guild member of any rank attending an official raid session with any character will have 24 points added to their balance at the end of the raid. Note that although some priority grades of player are not required to use points to acquire loots, they will nonetheless accrue them through attendence so they can use them in the future should they change priority grade.
  • Any attendee who is not ready to begin the raid at the official start time, has left before the official end time, or has taken time AFK outside of permitted break intervals may be subject to a reduction in awarded points.
  • Any attendee failing to operate within the parameters expected of their role because of a perceived failure to pay due attention to information or instructions given may be subject to a reduction in awarded points.
  • In any situation where a request is made by the leadership for a rostered attendee to remain outside of the raid for all or any part of the raid time, that attendee would be eligible to receive points.
  • Any attendee who has been asked to remain outside of the raid must provide demonstrable means by which they can be communicated with for the entire raid time. Such a mechanism must allow for them to be with the rest of the raid party within a maximum of five minutes.
  • The required minimum attendance will remain at 80%. If you fall below 80% for 3 consecutive months you will be bumped to Back up raider. The first month you fall below the percentage 1 point will be added in the guild window. The second month you will be notified and advised of a second consecutive month and 2 points added in the guild window and reminded that third month will result in raid rank loss. Upon the third month & 3 points in the guild window we will let you know that your rank has changed and when you are able to meet attendance requirements to please re apply. We will not use scheduled Holidays/Vacations against you unless in extreme excess.
  • Posting afk's. Please post your afk's well in advance. This is considerate to your fellow raiders. We understand that some things pop up on short notice, still post. In the event of an emergency/sudden afk you will have a 24 hours period from start of raid you missed to post. If you fail to post you will be dock'd a full raid day dkp (24). The reason is unimportant, we just would like the courtesy of knowing you won't be there. Please post any and all AFK's in the away thread

Looting

  • Coin will be autosplit across the raid force.
  • When an item drops, the assigned raid loot coordinator will announce the commencement of bidding by linking the item in the aenigma_auction channel.
  • If there are standby attendees outside of the raid who have remained in game and have made themselves known to the raid loot coordinator, they are eligible to bid normally.
  • Those able to use the item for which bids are being taken will talk in the aenigma_auction channel. If a bidder's priority grade is one that uses points, they should just state the number of points they wish to bid; the minimum opening bid being 20 points, except for previous-tier or non-fabled items, where the minimum bid is 10 points. If the bidder's priority grade is one that does not use points, they should just state their grade.
  • Any bidder is permitted to raise the bid by talking in the aenigma_auction channel. The minimum raise shall be to 5 points higher than the previous bid. The maximum raise is limited only by each player's point total unless their priority grade is subject to a cap. The person having made the highest bid at the close of bidding shall be the winner. Where the only participants in the process are of priority grades that do not use points, there is no concept of a raise. When a higher priority grade enters an auction, all lower priority grade interests previously expressed are invalidated.
  • In the event of a bid being received that fails to meet the minimum raise of 5 higher than the previous bid, either through near-simultaneity or player error, only the first to arrive chronologically will be considered valid. Bidders should ask the loot coordinator for clarification in the aenigma_auction channel if they are unsure whether their bid was valid.
  • At the end of the bidding interval, the highest bidder will win, and will pay the amount they bid. In the event that the only participants were of priority grades that do not use points, if there is more than one interested person of the highest priority grade, they will at this stage use a /random 1 1000 to detemine the winner.
  • If the leadership feel that the item being bid upon would provide a significant raid-viability benefit by being given to a specific individual in the raid, they may elect to have the loot coordinator suspend bidding early and award the item to that individual for the points cost at the current bid. Note that this course of action will be used sparingly and only for extremely important upgrades whose use by a specific person's role benefits the entire raid force.
  • The name of the winner will be announced by the raid loot coordinator in the raid channel and the item will be assigned to that winner. In the event that the winner is of a priority grade that uses points, the points bid will be deducted from the recipient's balance. In the event that the winner is of a priority grade that does not use points, the recipient is expected to place the appropriate coin payment in the guild bank within 24 hours of the end of the raid.
  • Alts must be the correct level to use an item. All alt loot acquired during a raid must be paid for prior to the commencment of the next raid otherwise you will not be eligable to bid on more loot. Alts may loot 1 item per raid unless no-one else wants or the other person has also won previously on a roll.
  • Any individual partaking in vexatious action which the leadership deem to be disruptive or burdensome to the bidding process may be subject to future ineligibility to participate. These situations will be handled on a case-by-case basis.
  • Any bids that would take raiders into negative points will be deemed null and void unless it is the only bid received.
  • Runes: anyone wishing to take a rune will need to bid in the normal way as with any other item. However if there are no bids anyone is free to /random 1000, the winner pays no dkp or plat for the rune.

Miscellaneous

  • In any situation where a guild member feels a wrongdoing has occurred, they are invited to communicate this privately to the leadership after the raid in private tells. If attention needs to be drawn to a mistake that is time sensitive, the guild member may choose to use a common channel to raise the alarm.
  • If an official raid fixture takes place in a zone that is lower than the current tier, points will be awarded as normal, but looting will be determined by a /random 1 1000 and no points will be paid except on pre-announced items.

Priority grades

As referenced in the section specifying the process details, there are a number of different grades of priority in terms of loot eligibility. Each of those priority grades are detailed here.

Note that in any auction, as soon as a particular priority grade expresses an interest, any priority grades that are numerically lower become ineligible to win the item. Sub-priorities belonging to the same numbered priority do not become ineligible when a higher sub-priority bids, but are subject to a bidding cap.

Priorities summary

Priority order Grade name Bid method
1a Raider Points
1b Backup raider Points; capped at 50 if bidding against 1a
2 Recruit raider Pays 30p if no Raiders or BUR's are bidding
3 Preferred alt /random 1 1000, pays 50pp
4 Non-raider main /random 1 1000, pays 150pp
5 Non-preferred alt /random 1 1000, pays 150pp
6 Non-raider recruit /random 1 1000, pays 150pp
7 SLR Note: Loot rights only sold where anticipated value is 100pp or greater
8 Transmute Note: Manas are provided to 1a upon request

Where someone wishes to take an item of loot for an alt and that alt is not on the same account and so can't use the shared bank to transfer the item after the raid, it is required that the individual is able to switch to their other account, get to the raid and loot the item, and then switch back to their raiding character within a duration of no greater than five minutes. A failure to do so may result in an additional 10pp being charged for delaying the raid.

Priority grade definitions

1a · Raider

A full member main character that has received and accepted a place on the permanent raid roster. These will also be listed with the rank “raider” in the in-game guild roster.

There are no bidding restrictions imposed and any number of points within the current balance may be used.

A short-term failure to maintain attendence may result in the individual being demoted temporarily in to priority 1b for the raids they attend.

1b · Backup raider

A full member main character that has requested a place on the permanent roster, but has neither been declined due to not meeting the requirements nor has been accepted because of the fact that there are insufficient free spots for their class in the permanent roster. The member is waiting for someone to leave the roster so that they may receive the spot.

Provided the backup raider shows up for the raid fixtures for which they have expressed interest in joining on the permanent roster, they maintain this priority grade.

A short-term failure to maintain attendence may result in the individual being demoted temporarily in to priority 4 for the raids they attend.

May bid against others in priority 1, subject to a maximum bid cap of 50 points where priority 1a bids are made

2 · Recruit raider

A recruit in their trial period who applied with the express intention of joining the permanent raid roster at the successful completion of their trial.

Provided the recruit raider shows up for the raid fixtures for which they have expressed interest in joining on the permanent roster, they maintain this priority grade and may bid 30p for loot as long as no others in priority 1a/b bid on an item by stating Recruit Raider in the auction channel.

A short-term failure to maintain attendence may result in the individual being demoted temporarily in to priority 6 for the raids they attend.

3 · Preferred alt

A full member who holds a spot on the permanent roster may select a single alt to be elevated to this priority grade, granting that alt increased precedence against other alts and non-raiding mains, as well as preferential pricing on looted items.

The preferred alt should be maintained to the minimum requirements that a raider must meet, must remain unlocked from raid zones that are in the current schedule, and must be in the guild.

Applications for this should be made on the preferred alts forum thread. Currently accepted preferred alts are listed on the raid roster page.

As determined according to trends over time, the leadership will occasionally choose to mark a preferred alt as being consistently used in raids. For example, this might be for a class that is not present on the permanent roster, but that is required for one specific encounter, and so is swapped in often.

Raiders are encouraged to decline loots for their own preferred alt where the loot would otherwise go to a preferred alt that is consistently used in raids, such that it can be geared up more quickly, thereby improving raid feasibility. This is an example of where the leadership will likely otherwise step in to override default selection in many cases.

On winning an item, this grade will pay 10pp.

4 · Non-raider main

Any main character that has not applied to join the permanent raid roster, or has applied and been declined for failing to meet the minimum requirements.

On winning an item, this grade will ordinarily pay 30pp, but if they have attended raids and accrued points, they are allowed to choose to pay 20 points instead of the coin amount. They are not permitted to go in to negative points.

5 · Non-preferred alt

Any other alt of any main character in the guild. The alt does not necessarily have to be in the guild. The alt must be of high enough level to use the item.

When participating in an auction, the bidder is required to state which particular alt the item is intended for.

On winning an item, this grade will pay 30pp.

6 · Recruit

A newly recruited guild member still in their trial period who has not expressed an aspiration to become a permanent rostered raider, or that has expressed such an aspiration, but due to reasons of either the roster being unable to accommodate their class at present, or not meeting the minimum requirements, this will not be able to be fulfilled.

On winning an item, this grade will ordinarily pay 30pp, but if they have attended raids and accrued points, they are allowed to choose to pay 20 points instead of the coin amount. They are not permitted to go in to negative points.

7 · SLR

Loot rights may be sold externally in cases where no characters have shown an interest. Only where a minimum of 50pp is expected to be raised by the sale of the item will this be done. The proceeds are placed in the guild bank and included in the monthly coin split.

8 · Transmute

If an item is not expected to fetch 50pp in an external sale, the item will instead be transmuted and the transmute product placed in the guild bank. Manas are provided to 1a upon request.
